What You'll Learn

- How Toothed Metal Fasteners (TMF) deliver higher stiffness, reduced fastener counts, and improved connection strength

- Research insights including ETA details, reduced minimum screw spacing, ribbed slab systems, CLT edge connections, and shear plane reinforcement.

- Where TMF technology could go next—and how your feedback may shape its future applications in mass timber

Join a select group of engineers and manufacturers for an exclusive working session with Dr. Roland Maderebner of the University of Innsbruck and NUCAP (the company behind TMF).

This 2-hour interactive experience begins with a catered lunch and a behind-the-scenes walkthrough of cutting-edge TMF insert technology—marketed as Sharp Metal under the Rothoblaas product line, and Grip Metal by NUCAP. These toothed metal layers are revolutionizing how timber connections perform in shear, increasing stiffness up to 9x and load capacity up to 6x compared to traditional screws alone, all without adhesives or predrilling.

Roland Maderebner, lead researcher from the University of Innsbruck, will give his World Conference of Timber Engineering presentation on the research and newly released ETA findings, showing how these inserts perform across a range of real-world timber connection scenarios—including ribbed floors, hanger hardware, and CLT edge joints.

Then the format shifts.

NUCAP’s team will open a forward-looking discussion on where this could go next: from hybrid CLT systems with longer spans and thinner profiles, to CFS wall integration, to integration with glulam and CLT factory production. Attendees will be invited to share insights, ask questions, and help shape the next phase of R&D based on where they see the greatest need or potential.

Expect hands-on demos, real test data, and structured follow-ups, including:

– Downloadable technical materials
– Sample kits for engineering teams and manufacturers

This is your front-row seat to the next evolution of timber connection design - and a chance to guide what comes next.

This event is invite-only and primarily for engineers and manufactureres. If you wish to attend please email brady@masstimber.group
