Martha Nelson serves as Director of Planning, Design & Construction at Metropolitan State University of Denver, where she leads campus planning, capital project delivery, and strategic facility initiatives that support the university's long-term goals. She oversees a diverse portfolio of renovation, infrastructure, and new construction projects while advancing campus standards, space planning, and capital investment strategies.
With experience spanning both construction and higher education, Martha brings an owner-focused perspective to the planning and delivery of complex projects. She is known for her collaborative leadership style, strong stewardship of public resources, and ability to transform complex institutional challenges into practical, impactful solutions.
In her current role, Martha works closely with campus leadership, design teams, contractors, and public partners to align capital investments with institutional priorities and student needs. She currently serves as the institutional representative for MSU Denver's first student housing development, a mass timber project that will introduce residential living to campus for the first time while advancing the university's goals for student success, sustainability, and long-term campus growth.
