As COO of Mercer Mass Timber, Nick leads the company’s operations and strategic direction, steering its growth and innovation in the mass timber industry. He champions a fully integrated project delivery approach, aligning design, manufacturing, and execution to deliver scalable solutions that drive efficiency and create value for our partners. Under his leadership, the company continues to expand its impact, forging stronger partnerships and advancing the adoption of mass timber in the built environment.

With 40 years in construction, Nick has overseen the design and construction of over 550 steel and mass timber structures. He is a recognized leader in the industry and serves as vice-chair and director of Timber Development UK, formerly known as TRADA, the Timber Research and Development Association. 

Through TRADA and in collaboration with industry leaders such as Arup, Nick led the development of the UK’s first National Structural Timber Specification, which outlines design, manufacturing, and installation tolerances for solid wood construction. His other key publications include The Design and Performance of Cross-Laminated Timber and Hybrid Structures in Construction. Nick also chaired the working committee for Singapore’s Mass Engineered Timber Handbook, developed in partnership with the Building and Construction Authority (BCA).
