Matt started his construction career at the age of fourteen assisting his father as an apprentice, working on residential new builds, remodels, and small commercial tenant interior projects in Wyoming. He moved on to complete his formal carpenter apprenticeship in Portland, Oregon while working for a large commercial general contractor on multi-unit residential, education, retail, restaurants, and commercial tenant interiors. 

With the innate ability to understand every phase of construction, he has served many roles through his career at various organizations and within various markets., including foreman, field superintendent, project engineer, and project manager. He has been an integral member of the Saunders team since 2017, now serving as a Project Superintendent.
