Michael is a Managing Director in Portfolio Management at Principal Real Estate.
Since 2007, he has helped manage the private market equity real estate portfolio for Principal Life Insurance Company (PLIC). This includes the management of core, value-add, opportunistic and high-yield/participating debt investments across all property types primarily located in the United States.
Michael also managed a turnaround strategy for PLIC’s distressed loan and foreclosure portfolio resulting from the Global Financial Crisis. Prior to 2007, Michael’s responsibilities included portfolio analysis for client Macquarie Office Trust, and assisting with the day-to-day asset management of equity real estate properties located in the southeastern region of the United States.
He originally joined the firm in 2001. Michael also provided asset acquisition and disposition analysis in the due diligence department at Equity Office in Chicago for two years. Michael received a bachelor’s degree in Finance and Economics from Iowa State University.
